Cumin, Cuminum cyminum
Grind cumin seeds with a drop of ghee and a pinch of salt. Apply for scorpion sting.
Biblical Remedy
Cumin has been well-known for its carminative action since Biblical times. Iran is the major exporter of cumin. The chief trading centres for cumin in India are jabalpur, Ratlam, Jaipur and Gangapur.
Cumin Fruits - and Not Cumin Seeds!
Although loosely referred to as seeds, cumin consists really of fruits. They are stomachic, antispasmodic, astringent, carminative, sedative and stimulant and are useful in diarrhoea and dyspepsia. They help in relieving nausea, particularly in the case of pregnant women.

| Diabetes |
Crush 8 tsp cumin into a fine powder. Take 1/2 tsp with water twice daily. |
| High blood pressure |
Mix 1 tsp finely ground cumin powder in 2 tbsp each coconut water and milk and 1/4 tsp freshly ground sandal paste and sugar to taste. Drink this mixture every morning for a few days. |
| Constipation, indigestion |
Add equal quantities of cumin seeds, pepper and dried ginger to a bunch of dried curry leaves and powder them togethe. Add a little salt to taste. Add this mixture to hot ghee and eat along with steamed rice. |
| Diarrhoea |
Combine 1 tsp each of the powders of cumin, ginger, cinnamon and honey and mix into a thick paste. Take 1/2 to 1 tsp thrice daily. |
| Diarrhoea, digestive disorder |
Boil 1 tsp cumin seeds in a glass of water. Add to this 1 tsp fresh juice of coriander leaves and a pinch of salt. Drink twice daily after meals for 2-3 days. |
| Gas |
Mix equal quantities of broken cumin, black pepper and ginger. Make an infusion by mixing in some warm water. Drink twice or thrice a day for a few days. |
