Cooling Mediterranean Herb
The coriander   traces its origin to the Mediterranean region.  it is a popular  herb, well- known  for  its carminative and cooling properties.
Both the  leaves of the  coriander  and  its  seeds  find  a place  in the spice  cupboard  and also in  the medicine chest.


Garlic

A  Useful Household Remedy
It is an effective household remedy for many pitta disorders, particularly those of the digestive or   urinary tracts. The fresh  juice of leaves  can  be  used  either   internally  or  externally  for  allergies, skin rashes, itch, inflammation , etc. It facilitates digestion and absorption and is useful in the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery.

AILMENT PRESCRIPTION

Swellings

Drink coriander tea (1 tsp coriander seeds steed in a cup of warm water). In addition , external  application  of a mixture of 2 parts  turmeric powder and 1part salt  on  the  affected  area  is advised.

High cholesterol

Regular  intake  of  coriander  decoction  made  by  boiling  2  tsp  dry  seed  powder in 1 teacup  water.  (Milk and sugar can be added to improve its taste. This could be a welcome substitute for tea or coffee.) Note: This also acts as a diuretic as kidneys are stimulated.

Dysentery hepatitis, indigestion ,nausea, typhoid fever

1 to 2 tsp fresh juice of  coriander  leaves is mixed  in 1 teacup  buttermilk and taken  2-3 times.

Bleeding in nose, Body heat Juice of fresh coriander leaves used as nasal drops.
Headache Mix equal quantities of sandal paste and coriander seed powder in an adequate quantity of water. Apply the paste on the affected areas.
Ulcer in mouth Coriander decoction prepared by boiling 1 tsp seeds in 1 teacup water, gargled when lukewarm, frequently.    
Blackheads, pimples Mix 1 tsp each turmeric paste and juice of fresh coriander leaves and apply daily as a face pack before going to sleep. (Also avoid fatty foods, soap, etc.)
Rashes on the Skin

Apply coriander leaf paste on the affected area.  Also drink (1 tsp coriander seeds boiled in 1 cup of water).

Anaemia, Indigestion, kidney problems, nervous weakness, night blindness, osteoporosis, etc

Frequent intake of coriander tea: boil or steep 2 tsp coriander powder in a glass of water. Add sugar and milk to taste.
